Hi Aline
Welcome to the site
So your 4weeks post op – have you started on your textures now. If so has the issue only occurred since starting your textured food..??
Is you band empty, or has your surgeon done a prime during the op…??
Try not to be fed up, hopefully this will sort itself out very soon xx

I was fine until I started eating thicker puréed foods now feels like a golf ball constantly stuck in my throat. My band is empty not having my first fill until June

This could be because you have thickened up the consistency and pureed food can just be a little thick and doesn’t move down the oesophagus very quick, because the lack of chewing and the lack of peristaltic action, the pureed food can pool around the band – giving you that feeling in the throat.
Was thinner fluids flowing freely…?? are you having any other symptoms – regurg or reflux..??
Have you tried soft mushy diet yet, or has your surgeon specified he wants you on pureed food..??
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to build up the assessment to date xx

Awww okey… it makes sense to go back to fluids and allow the swelling to settle for a little longer. This should by rights stop that lump in your throat feeling. Then you can try again in a few days maybe if all the symptoms settle or as per guidance from your surgeon. When you do, I would make sure you are using a small teaspoon and allowing 20 – 30 second between spoonfuls, sat up nice and straight too… might help with the passing thru the band
let us know how you get on and if symptoms persist speak further with Mr Hamouda xx
