      hi all, my band is this week and I have just received my admission email that says I have to have quit smoking 4 weeks prior to surgery. Obviously with only knowing this a week before I haven’t done but my aim is to stop now. It states in my email thou that they will perform nicotine tests on the morning of my operation and I’m worried I’ve not given myself enough time to quit I’m already climbing the walls having to suddenly go cold turkey cause no one told me!

       

      Has anyone had a band done at the triangle in Hammersmith and do they do nicotine tests  and have a given myself enough time. There’s so many hurdles! I would of thought private paying would be less stressful than the NHS but so far it’s defo not been!

      Hi Charlotte

      It maybe worth giving your co-ordinator a quick ring, they may know more about the hospital policy on smoking.

      Good for you for just giving up, not easy… there is no quick way to eradicate nicotine out of the system unfort, but it may help if you make sure your drinking plenty of water and exercising to help flush out the system alongside your pre op diet too 😖

      Hopefully you’ll be fine and your surgery goes ahead as planned.  Do let us know what they say if you hear any updates xx
