Gastric Sleeve Explained

The Gastric Sleeve also offers great weight loss results however as with all weight loss surgeries a healthy lifestyle will give better results. Like the name suggests the gastric sleeve operation reduces the size of the stomach to a narrow sleeve around 150- 200 mls in size. The remainder of the stomach is actually removed unlike with the bypass surgery. Weight loss will occur because less food will be eaten at mealtimes before you feel satisfied. In addition, after the sleeve  surgery the gut hormone  called ghrelin will be reduced, and this is what makes you feel hungry  - you should  therefore feel less hungry after surgery.  This operation is again performed by keyhole surgery via incision sites in the abdomen.

You will also be required to take lifelong vitamin and mineral supplements due to the smaller food volume managed

As with all surgeries the aftercare is crucial for best results and to prevent the risk of any complications
