So I don’t feel so happy this morning. it’s been 3 weeks since my surgery; I have been eating healthy and attending the gym regularly and my band is still free flowing . I checked my weight for the first time today and it’s only down by 1kg 😒. I’m not feeling motivated at all

awww Sonia xxx its only 3 weeks since your surgery …I’m assuming you have nt had a fill yet and even if you had, it could only be a tiny one. Please, please don’t feel upset ((( ))) I ll be totally honest with you – after my op, once my tummy had settled down, i could eat just like i did pre-op. And i don’t just mean portion size. i was eating all the stuff which had put the weight on me and i had gained weight, not much, but still a gain, in the 6 weeks before my first fill. After my first fill, i lost a few pounds but after fill number 2, my band was tighter and i d got my head in the right place too, and the weight began to slide away. I lost 11 stone to get to goal – but i do still remember those early days of despair, thinking it wasn t working. It will kick in once you are filled, it can take a couple of fills to get to the right tightness but it will happen xxxx Imagine it as if you were having a dividing wall put into your open plan living space. First they put up a wooden frame (thats like you having your surgery) but you can still see to the other side. Only when they put the plasterboard up will you believe you have a proper wall 🙂 and thats how it is with your fills xxx So keep cheery, lovely – it s a bit of an emotional roller coaster when you re newly banded but i ve walked in those shoes myself so just come on here n ask/share etc .. anything you need xxx ((( )))

Great advice girls, and yes in the early days there can be a lot of mixed emotions about your surgery/weight etc. But trust us on this one Sonia the early days are for healing not weight loss. As disappointing as that sounds…. Keep positive and keep up the efforts, they won’t be wasted. You will be on your soft diet now, so take things easy, remember your chewing and slowing down all in prep for progressing onto textures. You will be in to start the adjusting of your band very soon.
Keep positive and keep posting, support is here and were all in this together xx

I’m the most impatient person there is and know how you feel.
I have had 4 fills now and am losing weight. It’s not as quick as I would have liked but if you try to stick to the 20+ rules before you get to restriction your weight will start to come off.
You now have the tool in place, it’s all about learning to work with it. It won’t be long before you can’t eat like you used to. It’s amazing how you naturally start to recognise what a decent portion should look like and learning to stop eating before you get full.
We are all in it together and we will be able to look back a year from now and celebrate how far we have come
all the best

Yayyy 4th fill…They do say 4 to 6 fills approx before your band starts to kick in.
Good job time fly’s hey, and trust me it does, and you do need this precious time between your fills to learn the most important lesson of all….. chewing
Its a slow process to start, we agree…. but a very much needed one
And keep patient good things are happening xx

Slowly slowly catches the 🙊 xx I’ve been down the borderline too tight road before I met Nic n yep the scales and clothes results were amazing but ultimately you cannot sustain that x it’s unhealthy n no way to live xx appropriate fills are the way to go xx keep filing n unfiling is actually the equivalent of standing still on your journey xx don’t do it, bandits…. Xx

I found that I lost weight in waves, I’d lose weight quite steadily then it would stop, then I may gain a pound or two, I’d have a small fill then i would remain the same for a couple of weeks then I’d drop another wave of weight and so it repeated the cycle over and over again, I honestly think my body was trying to retain it,then it would actually think you know what it’s ok to lose a bit more weight he is healthy and then I would lose it.

Sometimes using the weights plotted in a graph really helps – you can see the overall pattern then. So there might be times where it goes up a bit but you can see the overall trend is it is coming down. Mremember to use The Weigh In section – once a week is all you need ( fight the urge to get on the scales on a daily basis ) xx
