Can anyone advise on this, ive been to walk in centre and the nurses are different each time and just cover it and nothing else. however its still the same and its nearly a month since my operation and im left with a very sore weeping gaping hole. I cant seem to get help anywhere. what can I do for this wound. I know a gel can be used for wounds as a past carer I use to dress this for people. can I get this gell for this wound? how and what do I do with it

Hi Karen
I would book in and see your nurse for sure with this wound as it may need a little swab taken and possibly packing depending how ouzy and deep the cavity is. Clean and change the dressing daily till then for sure
Where is your nearest clinic xx

Its hard to assess a wound from a pic, but what I can see is plenty of healthy tissue deep within the wound bed. But with the static healing it would be wise to swab to make sure its not got any infection growing on the skin surface. And a good packing with a silver Aquacel AG will sort it out. It’s not going to heal overnight, but as long as your seeing signs of healing and know that its heading in the right direction. I would call WLSS on Monday morning and get yourself booked in with your clinic nurse so she can assess and treat accordingly. Do let us know how you get on with things xx

my op was 4th june so not quite a month I have already called them but haven’t had a returned call back yet. I am due to be seen by them on 23rd june. im not eating much as soon as I eat I get full pretty quick so I stop. ive lost 16lb since one week before surgery so its going well. I will take on board about the protein but at the moment im on soups and im vegetarian and lactose intolerant so it makes it a bit harder. ive progressed to root mash and scrambled egg so far and lentil soups the thick fresh ones

Hi Karen
Dont know if this is helpful or not but you can get plaster glue from boots. I’d clean it and put some of that in but get advice from THG too x
