      Hi everyone,

I’m one week post op today. And physically Im feeling pretty good. My incisions are healing, only had one pop open but nothing major.

I’m feeling really low though, I don’t know what I was expecting but I suppose I’m thinking have I done the right thing? Will it work? Will I regret it?
Im finding the liquid stage so very very hard and admit I’ve cheated a little.
Maybe I thought I’d just wake up thin…. lol. I dunno.
      So sorry for whinging.

Hi Charlotte – thats why this site is here to support patients as it really is an emotional rollercoaster of a journey… especially in the early weeks/months.

All we can do is give you plenty of reassurance (and a big hug if you were in person)  that things will get better and easier… the fluids post op is ok at first when newly post op as you have the help from the swelling so you more likely are not feeling like eating and small fluids seems to fill you up.  But as the swelling starts to settle the hunger and needing to want to eat more starts to kick in and this then becomes a new challenge.  We would always say to follow your providers guidance and this is there for a reason as getting something stuck or causing un-necessary regurg so early on is something you don’t want to deal with, trust us on that one.

Have you got some nice fluids in – make some homemade soups, yoghurts, custard and jelly… But mostly keep your chin up – you are just getting over surgery so are going to be feeling low in mood – but positive thinking will really help you get through these dark days.   Great news that you are feeling well – and all your wounds are behaving themselves now… wrap up and take a good walk, sometimes a little fresh air and blood flow boost helps with mood.

Come on lovely, you’ve got this – we will be laughing in a few months as things all start clicking into place and you realise this truly is the best thing you have done…!!!

Keep posting for support – people on here in the same boat or have been there may just help you thorough the tough times

Big virtual hugs coming at you🤗🤗 xx

Hey Charlotte, I can remember being so down after my surgery too. I have massive anxiety mainly due to my own insecurities and this really hit me after my op.  I wouldn’t mind it is something I have longed for for ages but the reality of it was this is so much money, will it work for me will I fail, will I be able to make the changes, never mind all the horror stories.  I went on a google mission and made myself 100 times worse.   This is why finding this group has been priceless to me on my journey.  I had so many grey areas and my provider was abroad so felt out there on my own just with the crazy antics of google to fuel my uncertain mind.  I am now 3 stone weight loss later and the last 12 months have been a challenge I can’t lie, but I feel the fog is lifting slightly and I am in a much happier place, I still have anxiety, I think even at drain pipe skinny I would still have anxiety, Im a born worrier LOL

The time does go so quick and things before you know will seem so much clearer.  Sending you lots of love and don’t forget Bandits rule😉😉😉 You can do this xxxxxxxx

      Aw thanks for sharing Kim

it really is natural to question your decision and feel a bit down – you’ve just had surgery Charlotte and need time to heal and get well as well as getting used to liquid only and all the new advice you’ve had to take on board about the band

you will get there – soon it will all be a distant memory and you will love the band 😃

      Thankyou so much guys.
This site really is fab I don’t think there’s been a day I haven’t been on.

Ive had a lovely visit from a friend today and really laughed so that’s been a lift.

Kim Thankyou for sharing, it’s always good to know you’re not the first to feel the things your feeling.
I’m determined to be positive, soft foods from next week will be much more interesting and hopefully will be able to get my first fill in the diary.
I’m 12 lbs down from the day I started preop diet for gods sake! How is that not something I’m shouting about!

      Hey,

Thanks I’m doing ok, I’ve gone back to work today so I think that will help. I find when I’m sitting at home I get mopey.
It’s just a major life change isn’t it and for me as a food addict it’s the head changes I need to make which are the hardest.

It so is,  the mind can often take a little longer to adjust to the changes.  It’s always good to get back to work, get up and about and really does help with the focus.  I don’t think most of us are used to being sat around all day…  Good to hear you are doing OK….  It will get easier.  Big hugs and take things easy if your job is manual.   Nothing heavy or strenuous for another couple of weeks xx
