I must say, the whole experience has been very straightforward so far and Im feeling better every day. Not even had much of an issue with trapped wind!
Ive been following the liquid only (mainly Slimfast) but just today Ive started feeling a bit ‘tight’ and feel like I need to push my shoulders back and breathe deeply to try and relieve it. I know nothing is blocked as not had anything that could cause a blockage and I can feel cool water trickling down into my tummy. I thought any swelling would be getting better by now and not worse?
Does this sound normal?

Hi Tricia
It can take awhile for things to settle and it can’t can happen at anytime
Are you sipping really slowly?
Having at least a 20 second rest between sips ?
Remembering not to use a straw?
Good news on the trapped wind as that can be a real issue 👍

Yes, slipping slowly and resting between. Not finishing a full bottle of slimtfast either.
On the plus side Ive lost nearly a stone from the pre op diet and liquids post op 🙂
Everythings been fine so far so probably just a hic cup – just worried about slippage etc 🙁
Thanks for the quick response.

Aw please don’t worry about slippage – it is really quite difficult for a band to slip. Everything sounds fine – keep sipping slowly.
Dont worry about not finishing a full slimfast – about 200 mls is a good portion size guide so that’s a bit over. Aim for 5 x 200 ml portions of protein containing liquids daily plus additional water / tea/ coffee etc to make around 2 litres total fluid daily.
Wow !!!!!! Well done in your weight loss 😃
keep us posted on your progress xx

Hi I’m just over a week post op, I asked my gp if I could have another sicknote for 2 weeks as still a bit swollen and sore, also scabs still in place, but he declined to give me a sick not as he says I need to get it from hospital group, I’m panicking a bit now as not sure if I have enough holidays left, I had pain in shoulders but that was trapped wing again peppermint and warm water was good for me

Hi Andrea, I would give Dolan Park a call and see what they advise about your sick note.
Glad your getting to grips with the wind, that’s a winning combination the peppermint and hot water 😊
Keep yourself up and mobile too, helps reduce swelling and increases blood flow that aids healing xx
