Hi – aw not pleasant to feel like that.
stick with the hot fluids just now since you can manage those just to keep hydrated. If that’s all you can manage though it does sound like you need a defill.fluids should always be able to go through the band ok and if you’re struggling it’s unlikely you would be able to progress onto textured food ok even if things start to ease with the fluids a bit.
give your provider a call and book in for a defill. If things do ease off ok you can always cancel it but a small defill sounds like what you need just now.
For now keep sipping what you can manage – small sips, no straw and have a 20 sec rest between sips. High protein soups would be good if the shakes are still a struggle
if you can’t keep hydrated then we do need to advise A&E
hope you get things sorted xx

Hi tracey. It really does sound like you band is a little tight. you shouldn’t be in pain when eating and you should be able to manage solid/ textured food ok.
Try having just liquids for a couple of days. Then make sure you follow the 20+ rule 1oo% If you can’t progress into textures in a few days then I would pop back for a small defill.
If regurgitation , pain on eating is happening more that 2-3 times weekly you need a defill too
Also if you have nocturnal reflux or s night cough you need an urgent defill too.
keep us posted of how you get on xx

Hi Samantha
The less healthy food shouldn’t cause any issues with your band – just your weight loss but the odd slip is ok.
It sounds like not following the 20+ rule may be the issue here. That could account for the central chest discomfort. Sometimes you can get a referred pain to your port too
Try not to worry. Go back onto liquids only then soft diet for a few days to allow any irritation to settle. Try sucking on some ice/ ice lollies too.
if things don’t improve, worsen or you have any concerns let your provider know.
The bands are hardy little things so hopefully the odd slip won’t have caused any longer term issues. Xx

Hi Emma
yes that van be completely normal. Try the wind remedies like Windeze, gripe water, peppermint tea.
You will also have some internal swelling too that can make you feel bloated
Give it some time. Make sure you are getting in lots of high protein liquids.
if things don’t ease let your provider know.
hooe you’re on the mend soon xx

Hi Sarah
with a band we recommend having your 3 normal meals daily – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Small, balanced meals with half of your side plate veg/ salad where appropriate.
All meals should be solid / textured though to get the best results possible. If you can’t manage textures then you msg just need a small defill to help with that.
Between meals we recommended just small, healthy snacks if needed – fruit, low fat yoghurt , veg sticks etc.
Then on occasions when you fancy a treat we try and say to keep it to around 100 calories or below
Let us know how you get on xx

Hi Polly. Try not to worry – it sounds normal
it usually takes 4-6 fills over the first 6 months to get to the optimal fluid level
A fill can cause temporary swelling which can cause the feelings of “restriction” but then when the swelling goes down the feeling then goes too.
Keep going and I’m sure you will get there.
If you remain concerned talk to your band adj practitioner. They may decide you need a fluid check at some point xx

Hi Julie
I know we replied on the FB group too but didn’t want to leave this without a reply also
yes you do need to increase your calories so you are having a minimum of 1200 daily.
That said after surgery we don’t advocate having to count calories ( so we only use that to ensure you are having enough rather than to restrict) – go by your portion sizes, healthy meals, being careful with snacking and regular exercise.
The band can take 4-6 fills over the first 6 months to kick in and help and your weight loss is likely to be sub – optimal until then.
Keep going – from your other post it sounds like you are on track so you will get there. There will be weeks you might not lose but others you lose more than expected so it will all average out.
You’ve got this 😘Keep us posted xx

Hi Amy. Aw that’s a tricky one.
you do need to stick to the pre- op diet completely.
However the recc’s are no more 1000 calories and 100g carbohydrates daily. So on that one day if you were able to make sure your overall intake was within those guidelines you would be fine.
with the chicken salad for example a very healthy grilled chicken breast and mixed salad leaves can be under 250 calories (depending on size. ) Change that to a fried chicken one with higher calorie ingredients like sweet corn, avocado , pasta or rice salad etc and the calories would jump up. Only you can gauge what’s on the plateyou could use an App like MyFitnessPal to add things up for that one day and make sure you stay within the guidelines
No alcohol tho – this will undo the liver reducing effects of the diet xx
Hope this help and good luck xxxx
