I honestly didn't have a weight problem in my younger years, I had put weight on after settling down with my wife, I dieted and lost it, then put it back on, dieted once more and lost it again, stopped dieting and then put it back on and some more, then I did the Atkins diet lost it again and then put it back on ! Same again with the Lighter life diet and the Cambridge diet. Lost it all and put it all back on and quite a bit more..... I had my band in 2015 and have lost almost 9 stone..... Ive just turned 47 and never felt better...!!!!! Supporting other is now a huge part of my life.
Banded 2 years now - had a rocky start and required further surgery, but halved my weight and at target now through hardworking and determination.
Ive had my band in for 14 years now - Wouldn't swap my band for the world - had a great weight loss but I am fully aware of the ups and down the band journey can bring. Happy to give advice from the 'horses mouth'

Hi, I'm Louise and I decided that I desperately needed to lose weight when I became 40 in 2016. When I started my weight loss journey I weighed 17 stone and was a size 22. I underwent a gastric band operation with the Hospital Group in October 2016 and now weigh 10 stone 9lbs and am a size 10. The gastric band has been an incredible tool - it hasn't been without it's problems (I had a port replacement earlier this year after a leakage), but despite this set back, it has become my best friend helping me to control my portion sizes. Alongside the band, I've become a huge advocate for careful nutrition and exercise and this year have completed several 10k runs and am currently training to become a yoga instructor...I could have only dreamed about being able to do this just two years ago...the weight loss has literally changed my life. I've built up a bank of useful hints and tips on getting the best from your band and there is little I haven't experienced through my weight loss journey so far, so happy to answer your queries and concerns.
