Week One – Getting prepared by Mamuna

Organise your Time……

To be honest, most of us could use some time to better prepare and organise our lives. Let's face it, most of us are just trying to get through the day and better our health while juggling infinite piles of laundry, meals, and tight schedules.
Finding the time can be challenging at times. Perhaps you have small children who want your continual attention. You can't even find time to finish your coffee before it gets cold, let alone tidy your entire house! Take comfort if any of these scenarios sound familiar to you and you're wondering how to find time to declutter.

Numerous studies have shown that mental clutter disturbs us, and that messiness in our physical space has an impact on how we think and feel. Being a little more organised provides a lot of advantages.
Here are a few quick tips for decluttering when you don't have time. They are simple tips for decluttering your home quickly and easily.

Plan ahead - Don't waste time pondering what to do when you find yourself with some free time. Prepare a list of small jobs that you can complete when you have free time. When your mind wanders, refer to it, or set aside a few minutes to get something done. Remove it from your to-do list and begin planning for the next task as soon as you are able.

Save time - Being organised saves you a lot of time. Consider this: you won't have to waste time looking for items when you need them. Because you know exactly where they are, or at the very least, you can easily locate them. Decluttering and organising your clothes, for example, can save you a lot of time when getting dressed in the morning!

Less stress - If you can keep your clutter under control, you'll be less stressed. It's arguably the most significant advantage of being organised. We live in modern times, with never-ending to-do lists towering above us.
We've also developed the habit of acquiring things. So, if you must gather things, having a location for them so they don't take up all of your room can undoubtedly lessen your stress levels.

Use your spare time - These are small chunks of time that you can use while you're doing something else, like whacking something in the microwave or waiting for the kettle to boil. De-clutter a kitchen drawer for example. This is one instance where multitasking can be quite beneficial! While dinner is cooking, declutter a kitchen closet. When the kids are playing in the tub, declutter your bathroom. Sort through your clothes as you get ready for the day next. Be clever!

Use a checklist - Even though it feels overwhelming, decluttering doesn't have to be difficult. Make it a habit to ask yourself basic questions. Is it something I enjoy, something I utilise, something that serves a purpose or adds value to my life? Keep the items for which you replied 'yes,' and get rid of the items for which you answered 'no.'

Embrace mindfulness
- Many of us experience brain haze and a plunge in concentration levels as we are constantly on the go, and for this reason it’s vital to factor in some ‘down time’ during our busy lifestyle. This can be achieved by setting aside a few minutes a day to simply relax and turn your thoughts off. Try to set aside time to do this and you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll feel the benefits.

Stick to a routine more readily - Organisation also makes it easier to develop and maintain habits. When you plan your meals ahead of time, you're more likely to eat healthy instead of stopping for fast food on the way home and falling into bad habits.
So, save time, by simplifying, decluttering, and organising your life and focus on other important aspects of your life. As a result, you too can live with less stress, have more space with less possessions.

The Challenge – “Give it a go and be amazed with just how much more time you have to spare.”
