Tomorrow I start my soft food diet but I’m starving!! I found the yoghurt with crushed peanut recipe on the liquid diet and have eaten four tubs of yoghurt with crushed peanuts today, 2 protein shakes and 4 activia pots! Is this normal? I’m freaking out!!! Thanks xx
oh and a tin of tomato soup x

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Today I’m on sloppy foods and really really struggling with the 20+ rule. I’m eating fast and furiously and can’t wait 20 seconds between mouthfuls. Is there something wrong with me?</p>

Hi Sarah. Aw it’s hard that phase because you probably know deep down you can’t really follow it properly – you can’t necssarily chew 20 times because it will be gone long before then.
just persevere – maybe have a drink between mouthfuls. So after you have swallowed a mouthful of food , wait 20 secs , have a sip of fluid, wait 30 secs then have the next food mouthful. Might help slow things down xx

haha Sarah you are completely normal don’t worry. As the swelling starts to settle the hunger can kick back in good style..!!! as your experiencing at the moment. Post op the swelling can squeeze and put pressure on the nerves at the top of the stomach which kill the hunger. Then as it starts to subside you can get a rebound hunger…. From a nurse perspective its a good sign that internally your healing well. Just try your best with the 20202020 – is so hard to do this if you don’t experience a problem if you don’t do it (if that makes sense) Remember you are still healing and don’t want any issues with food sticking at this stage whilst the band is settling into its new home 😊
Good to get your teeth into something at last hey haha xx

Thank you! I thought I was going mad! How will I know if food does get stuck? I’m chewing the life out of my food but still worrying.
on a separate note, my friend recommended dermatix to remove scars. She’s had a sleeve. I got some and rubbing it on my scars but wanted to check that you recommend it too x

Trust us you will know if food gets stuck…!!!! it normally comes with some central chest discomfort and can even result in regurgitation or people experience excess frothy ball of stringy saliva that comes up…eeek. Not great so keep up with the chomping
Yes dermatix is a great silicon based scar balm, actually one I recommend to my patients too. Best used on scars as soon as they become scab free and use for approx 2-3 months to get the best results.. All in prep for that bikini hey 😉xx

Yer I would always advise to not apply anything on your wounds till scab free, just don’t want to introduce any infection xx
