So ive got about 2 stone to loose and it averages out that ive lost a stone a year since i had my band so 2st. I wasnt huge when i got it but have been heavy in the passed, and fluctuated immensely. Sometines i think yes i know what i need to do, and lets be honest we could all write a good diet plan and exersise ragime for someone if we had to. We have all done our research and we have gone to the extent of major surgery to help us progress to our goals bit some days i get absolutely sick of worrying about my weight and how i loik and others i want to fo it all guns blazing. I know we all have our moments im sure i dont just speak for myself in this but having my band has been psychologically challenging as well as physicaly and it can be very time consuming emotionally. So today im having a why did i even bother moment. Its taking so long for the weight to come off. I have 2 young babies, im a student and university doing nursing and working bank shifts as well as trying to fit in all this for myself. Think we sometimes need to sit back and take a deep breath sometimes and relise this is pur forever journey. Always best to talk about it though, if anyone feels the same or has any tips, please comment much appreciated. Sorry for the rant hehe

Hey Laura x well done on all you have achieved, not just Yr weight loss but juggling a busy life too. I hear you about weight loss always being on Yr mind even if on the back burner sometimes. I ll be honest I too think too much about my weight, a loss makes hapy a gain makes me grumpy. But I try to rebalanced my mind so neither me nor anyone else defines me by my weight. Let’s be honest we ve probably been obsessed for years but at leadt now with our bands we have a constant support. Take day off from it all, eat trifle, feel normal. Yr positive motivation will return and then it’s back on track. I try to focus on ensuring I eat properly and healthily. The scales aren’t the only aspect to benefit from better eating xxx chin up n go get em honey xxxx

Hi Christine
Meal prepping is great to help you keep on track, as even with a band it is still easy to gain weight and eat excess cals.
I know you recently had a fill, has this helped with your portions and hunger..?? Im just wondering is your band working optimally..?? By optimally I mean are your portions textured and on a 6″ plate, with sustained hunger around 4-5 hours..??
If this is the case then that is great and maybe your focus does need to be on the foods you’re consuming and your exercise levels
Definitely keep posting and I’m sure you can work on getting that stone off before you know xx

Hey Christine xx I have had times during my journey when i ve been lazy with my fills and put a stone or so back on. Reflecting, in addition to taking some time out from restriction and noshing on the naughties, i let my step counting and exercise routine lapse too (it was never Olympic standard but a few dogs walks add up ). Once i started filling again i too struggled to lose the weight. Possibly because i still had one foot in the naughty food camp n tho eating a bit less i was still eating the wrong stuff. It takes real self discipline to get get filled to the correct level cos you just know it means giving up a lot of treats etc. What are your weight loss aspirations? Have you lost anything in the 3 weeks or just not as much as you d like to? Dont get down about this – let s get to the bottom of what’s going on xxx

hi ammi b no I haven’t lost any thing since my fill . I had my band for 4 years now and this is the first fill in 2 years . I have found the motivating email page so there’s a few things I know i’m doing wrong like using to many sauces with food and having soup at lunch times, going to try getting that in order. my band is ac large one and i’m now at 9.4cc thank you for reply Christine xx

Good for you for highlighting some improvements that you can make with your diet to enhance the functioning of your band. This can really help with the weight loss. At least once you’re back on textures you can then assess the level of control your band is giving you (looking at portions and hunger) and at 9.4cc there is always scope in your band for more fluids if you need more control.
Keep us updated how you’re getting on with things and little steps in the right direction will get you back on track
Keep up the good work xx

Hi Christine. It does sound like you need a fill. Provided your meals are all solid textured foods then you should only be able to manage the 6 inch plate within 20 mins and should be feeling satisfied for 4-5 hours xx

I have found when I don’t stick to textured food I get hungry quicker having just had an infil I am on soft foods for another day but defo going to make a conscious effort to introduce more textured food think I have playedsafe and lost confidence in trying textured foods but defo back on track over next few days xx

Hey Jean, try not to be so hard on yourself… if textures are causing you problems then it’s so easy to get into the habit of playing safe and going for soft diet…. just build it up slowly and regain your confidence back with the textures…. we all know it makes sense with the textures but sometimes it’s easier said then done when your struggling.. let us know how your get on xx

Have a little read of our Problem Foods article Jean – that’s a list of the foods that are more likely to cause problems with the band so just try those ones last xx

hey Christine xx Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction for you again. For me its always been a combination of not enough fill, too many soft foods n poor food choices which have slowed my weighloss down. You have to get yr head into the right place too, re commit, be kind to yrself in it will all keep going in the right direction. Im an absolute disgrace sometimes but i think its important that i admit to that .. it can be a tough gig this weightloss so if yr not always on track, dont fall into despair. Let the bad patch go, re affirm your commitment n go get it, girl!! ((( ))) xxx
