August 2021 – Step 8 of a 12 Month Programme

It’s summer, so let go of your inhibitions and enjoy yourself!

Our mental states are limited by inhibitions, which may prevent us from reaching our full potential in life. Inhibitions are our own worst fears, they stop us from living are lives and can impact on every aspect of our being from our personal life, family life, to our friendships.

Inhibitions might make us feel inept, fearful of losing control, have low self-esteem, and prevent us from truly being happy. Fear is at the root of the bulk of inhibitions. Getting rid of your inhibitions entails letting go of the things that prevent you from speaking and doing what you would naturally do if you weren't concerned about the consequences.

Ask yourself ....

Do you find it difficult to communicate? Are you experiencing feelings of inadequacy, poor self-confidence, or low self-esteem? Perhaps you're self-conscious about experiencing and expressing emotions.

Whatever situation you're in or your concerns are, I’ve got you covered. Remember that your inhibitions are a result of your desire to fit in and be accepted. Because your inhibitions are a product of your own making, you have the ability to modify or eliminate them. They are ideas and behaviours that can be altered. Almost all inhibitions are useless and unneeded.

Here's a list of possible ways you can go about losing Your Inhibitions.

  1. First, decide that you really want to lose your inhibitions. Set a very clear intention.
  2. You can get far if you raise your consciousness by applying to your personal development and self-improvement.
  • Make a list of your inhibitions.
  1. Change your pattern of behaviour. It has been said that it only takes 21 days to break the cycle where you do something other than your present habit.
  2. Inhibitions are fear based. Simply put yourself in the position that you fear. Example: Do you want to lose your inhibitions regarding public speaking? Then join a public speaking club.

So in August............... Remember what you adored as a child and try to capture those blissful feelings again. Get outdoors and into the elements – splash in the pool, walk the hills, ride a horse, paddle a canoe, go for a bike ride etc.

Ditch: Being grown –up and responsible (for a day!)

Take up: Dancing – rock it out, feel the beat, and have a great time.

Pat yourself on the back: Being sun safe. Stock up on high factor sunscreen, cover up and keep your cool in the sun.
